Why chewing gum was banned in singapore
Posted by: | CommentsSingapore republic is a country situated in the South-East of Asia in the Malaysian Peninsula. If you want to visit this country you have to know that people from Singapore have a particular respect for the environment they live in. We all know how unpleasant could be to step into a piece of chewing gum or to go to a restaurant and to find a chewing gum ball on your table. Chewing gum is associated by many people with a lack of civilization. Therefore in Singapore is prohibited to sell chewing gum. Maybe you wonder why this law was passed. Selling gum was prohibited after huge amounts of chewing gum were collected from underground stations and buses. While selling chewing gum is prohibited, it is not illegal to chew it, but if there is anybody who drops chewing gum anywhere else instead of garbage bins, he or she will face serious fines.
Therefore since 1992 from hygiene reasons, in Singapore, is prohibited to spit, import or sell chewing gum. However there are permitted local chewing gums, which are entirely decomposed under the chewing effect and they don’t let any remnant in the mouth, so there isn’t anything to spit on the ground. Eager to apply the law, the authorities imposed fines for lack of hygiene, concerning chewing gum, up to 6,400 euros, and for those who repeat the crime there is stipulated that they can go to prison, too.
At the international airport Changi control is very rigurous, even people in transit who transport prohibited things for import, like chewing gum have to make a previous declaration, otherwise their journey may stop and they must face local police.
Nevertheless in Singapore are authorized chewing gums used for medical purposes, against smoking for example, nicotine gum. Stimorol company works with pharmaceutical laboratories in order to make medicine chewing gum.
This law in Singapore may have consequences upon chewing gum producers from the neighbouring countries, as they lost a market, and in the same time it is encouraged black trade. As you know that many people are convinced that rules are made to be broken. Therefore don’t imagine that chewing gum is not sold in Singapore. It is the same thing as though chewing gum were a dangerous drug. Children will be children, and they like chewing gum. So their parents will try to get it regardless consequences.
To conclude, on the one hand this law is good for the environment, but it encourages crime. Maybe it would be better to educate people since an early age not to drop litter…

Airbus a380
Posted by: | CommentsAirbus A380 is the largest aircraft in the world which is also the world’s first double Decker passenger aircraft. Airbus A380 is a wide body aircraft with four engines. Airbus A380 is manufactured by European corporation Airbus. Airbus A380 first flied from Toulouse in France in April 2005. A380’s first commercial flight was from Singapore to Sydney on October 25th 2007 the user being Singapore Airlines. A380 is also known as superjumbo.
The upper deck of Airbus A380 covered nearly the complete length of the aircraft. The wide body of A380 could accommodate 525 passengers in the First class, Business Class and Economy class pattern. It is capable of accommodating 853 passengers if the Airbus A380 is configured as only Economy class. The layout of the A380 is a standard design of all Airbuses. The standard cockpit design helps to reduce the cost of training crews. The characteristics of the glass cockpit and fly wire flight control system are designed with improved standards.
The body of the Airbus A380 is built with aluminum, glass fibers reinforced with plastics, carbon fibers reinforced with plastics and quartz fibers reinforced with plastics. A new light weight material called glass reinforced fiber metal laminate is mainly used in the upper portion of the body of A380. A new type of aluminum which can be welded is also used in building the body of Airbus A380. By laser beam welding the aluminum, rows of rivets are avoided and thus the weight is reduced.
Passengers are more comfortable to travel in Airbus A380 because the cabin noise is much less when compared to other aircrafts and also the journey is less tedious. There are two wide stair cases for the passengers to move between the upper and lower deck. Compared to Boeing 747 the Airbus A380 is fitted with larger windows and overhead storage space. The seats of A380 are arranged 10 in a row. Though the lower deck is mainly used for cargo it can also be used as sleeper cabins, child care services and business centers for special passengers. Singapore Airlines describes A380 as a comfortable aircraft which is also quiet and spacious.
Airbus A380 is capable of flying a distance of 10,000 miles. Airbus A380 has an option of two engine version. Like all other Airbuses the A380 also is fully controlled by fly by wire flight control system. Previously Airbus A380 was known as A3XX double deck passenger aircraft. A380 is the largest aircraft lengthwise. Airbus claims that A380 is much more efficient jet compared to Boeing 747 and it is also cheaper and environmental friendly. Many airports need modifications to their runway because the outer engine of A380 will hang past the standard 150 foot runway.
